Ever since the November 2008 election, many conservatives have correctly criticized Barack Obama as a pathological narcissist. What other forty-something year-olds do you know who has written two autobiographical books before achieving anything meaningful in their lives? The warning signs have always been there through his entire campaign and well into President Obama’s first year in the White House.

Back in March of 2009 an analysis posted on the “A Conservative Teacher” blog went down the list of warning signs that point to a “Diagnostic Criteria for 301.81 Narcissistic Personality Disorder is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:”

1. a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
2. preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
4. requires excessive admiration
5. has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
6. is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
7. lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
8. is often envious of others or the that others are envious of him or her
9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

Many times in the past year we have seen more than one instance of almost all of these warning signs in Obama’s conduct while in office.

Now comes a stunning admission from retiring Democrat Marion Berry published in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Despite the serious warning signs that 2010 will be a repeat of 1994, or even worse, President Obama continues to dismiss any comparison between his disastrous presidency and Clinton’s situation back in 1994, “by saying his personal popularity would bail everybody out.”

The story continues:

Berry recounted meetings with White House officials, reminiscent of some during the Clinton days, where he and others urged them not to force Blue Dogs “off into that swamp” of supporting bills that would be unpopular with voters back home.

“I’ve been doing that with this White House, and they just don’t seem to give it any credibility at all,” Berry said. “They just kept telling us how good it was going to be. The president himself, when that was brought up in one group, said, ‘Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me.’ We’re going to see how much difference that makes now.” [...]

“I began to preach last January that we had already seen this movie and we didn’t want to see it again because we know how it comes out,” said Arkansas’ 1st District congressman, who worked in the Clinton administration before being elected to the House in 1996… “I just began to have flashbacks to 1993 and ’94. No one that was here in ’94, or at the day after the election felt like. It certainly wasn’t a good feeling.”
