Goodbye to One Man, One Vote

Democracy Undermined by DOJ
6/17/2010 – Selwyn Duke -

If you thought that “one man, one vote” reflected the full flowering of representative democracy, think again. In the village of Port Chester, N.Y., just a few towns north of my locality in Westchester County, there is a new system. It’s “one (minority) man, six votes” — brought to us courtesy of the U.S. Department of Injustice and a lunkhead of a federal judge named Stephen Robinson.

Here’s the story: In 2006, the Injustice Department alleged that Port Chester’s election system was “unfair.” The problem? While the village is almost half Hispanic, no Hispanic had ever been elected as a trustee. more »

More Political Climate Science

6/6/2010 – Patrick J. Michaels -
In today’s odd academic culture, including the world of climate science, academic freedom applies selectively. People use their positions and their email for politicking and electioneering and have no trouble retaining their jobs. But using your email to send out some inconvenient, apolitical weather data that says something your boss or your governor may not like can get you fired. more »

The End of Democratic Socialism

5/29/2010 – Monty Pelerin -
The end of democratic socialism is at hand. The welfare states of the U.S. and Europe are financially out of control, spent and unsustainable. They have reached the point that Margaret Thatcher defined as the end of socialism: They have run out of other people’s money. These areas of the world are about to change dramatically.

Victor Davis Hanson has a piece in National Review Online focused on Europe. His comments, while directed at Europe, are also applicable to the United States. more »

Times Square Bomber is a Registered Democrat

5/4/2010 – Greg Hedgepath -

Times Square Bomber, Faisal Shahzad is a registered Democrat. What? a registered Democrat, your kidding, I thought that the violent side of America could only be found in the Tea Party. Oh My . I wonder how Olberman and Madcow will blather about this little bit of news? Perhaps they can get advise from Mathews on what to say on air. If he can stop the quiver from running up is leg long enough to come up with a coherent thought. more »

Government Greed, San Francisco Style

4/30/2010 – IBD –

Nowhere has liberalism gone further than in San Francisco. And few, if any, other cities can boast such a well-heeled work force. Is this what “spreading the wealth” is all about?

We have seen the future and it works — for certain people. Take San Francisco municipal workers. The San Francisco Chronicle recently detailed just how overpaid the city’s employees are. Their average yearly salary is $93,000 before benefits. A third of them made more than $100,000 in 2009. A newly retired deputy police chief (not even the city’s top cop) made $516,118.

Now San Francisco is not the inevitable future of America. It does, however, represent one possible path. It’s a promised land of liberalism, both social and fiscal. more »

Democrats Scrambling to Deploy Tea Party Crashers

Kathy Sullivan, Democrat

Kathy Sullivan, Democrat

by Shawn Millerick | 4/14/2010

New Hampshire Democrats are engaged in a statewide search for liberal activists willing to attend so-called tea parties on Thursday and carry signs expressing racist or fringe sentiments, a Democratic source with knowledge of the effort tells NowHampshire.com.

According to the source, who sought anonymity for fear of reprisals, the Dems’ last minute scramble reflects a growing obsession among party leaders that they need to discredit the tea party movement soon or it will overwhelm them come the November election.

Former Democratic State Party Chairman Kathy Sullivan is heading up the search, the source said. Sullivan has been calling and e-mailing liberal activists trying to get them to attend tea parties in different parts of the state and hold signs denying the authenticity of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate and make racially disparaging comments to reporters. more »

Big Brother Becomes Big Bully

American Thinker | by Ed Lasky | 3/29/2010

The government in the Age of Obama has gone beyond the big brother that watches out and cares for us. Instead, it has becomes the big brother that torments and bullies us and then takes what is rightfully ours: our savings, our freedom, and our futures.

Liberals are often labeled as wanting to bring out the nanny state (the feminine version of a big brother). This is wrong. A nanny cares for her wards so that they can mature into responsible adults able to take care of themselves. more »

Out With the Traitors!

Townhall | Dick Morris & Eileen McGann | 3/27/2010

Scott Murphy of New York, Suzanne Kosmas and Alan Boyd of Florida, Betsy Markey of Colorado, Dennis Kucinich and John Boccieri of Ohio and Glenn Nye of Virginia — a partial list of the traitors who switched their votes in the House from no to yes on Obamacare. Another, Bart Gordon of Tennessee voted no when running for re-election and then switched to yes when he retired rather than face defeat, so he is beyond our reach.

We need to make a point of defeating these traitors in 2010! That is what democracy is for. more »

Downsizing America’s Economy

American Thinker | Steve McCann | 3/25/2010

You can thank President Obama for the lower standard of living coming your way. The numbers tell the story.

The electorate in the United States is presently being bombarded from all sides with financial and economic statistics on health care and budget deficits. The scale and magnitude of the sums are incomprehensible. A calculation containing twelve or thirteen zeros causes the eye to glaze over. However, in their gut, the American people know that something is amiss and that the future very much in jeopardy. more »

America Lost

US Flag in Distress

American Thinker | by Steve McCann | 3/22/2010

In the 1970s, there was an evocative public service advertisement on television. It showed an old and grizzled Native American Chief with a tear rolling down his cheek as he surveyed the pollution scaring the landscape of the once-pristine land.

As the House of Representatives passed Health Care Reform, many of us who were blessed to immigrate to the United States in search of freedom and opportunity (and were welcomed with open arms) found ourselves looking across the panorama of our adopted land with a tear rolling down our cheek.

Many of us who came to the United States did so to escape the brutal hand of government or as survivors of the consequences of tyranny run amok.

It has become difficult to watch, as our adopted land appears to have chosen a path that will lead to a nation we dare not imagine: a nation beginning to resemble what we left behind. more »

Congress Health Care Vote: A Dark Day for Freedom in America

Telegraph UK | by Nile Gardiner | 3/22/2010

The passage last night of Barack Obama’s health care reform bill through the House of Representatives is yet another blow to freedom in America inflicted by the Obama administration. The legislation, which comes at a staggering cost of $940 billion, will hugely add to the already towering national debt, now at over $12 trillion. It is yet another millstone round the necks of the American people, already faced with the highest levels of unemployment in a generation. more »

Explaining the Madness and Insanity of Obama and Congress

Obama is a MarxistRedState | by Cat Corben | 3/19/2010

Ironically, Americans are known as freedom fighters, coming to the aid and rescue of many countries, freeing and securing them from tyranny. Presently, Americans find themselves fighting for their own freedom from tyranny under Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the Democrat-led Congress. The American people have been consistent and clear in their will: kill the ObamaCare bill.

We all agree that the Democrats are committing political suicide and a mauling is going to take place in November with the GOP gaining a significant number of seats in Congress–maybe even the long shot of a 2/3 majority to override any presidential vetoes and even impeach Obama and members of Congress. Goals, indeed.

Americans keep asking what is going on in this country because they just cannot grasp the tyranny the country is experiencing. Clearly, there is an underlying plan that is being [en]forced, against our will, because Obama knows this is be the last time in possibly a generation the progressive Democrats will have the power to execute the fall of America into a socialistic state–their ultimate goal. Maybe this is what Obama explained to Rep. Dennis Kucinich in private on Air Force One to cause him to switch his vote from no to yes. more »

ObamaCare is Tyranny, Not Legislation

Obamacare: A Nightmare for America

Obamacare: A Nightmare for America

American Thinker | by Janice Shaw Crouse | 3/18/2010

What we’re seeing in Washington, D.C. is not “politics as usual” with the arm twisting and “horse trading” that is typical in getting a bill passed; instead, it is ideological warfare. What Obama, Reid and Pelosi are doing is not legislating; it is an act of tyranny — overturning all the rules and principles of government in a representative democracy. Attempting to pass the Senate version of ObamaCare in the House under the ironically named “Slaughter Rule” (to circumvent the objections of the Stupak coalition to taxpayer funding of abortion) is an exercise in raw power akin to the many acts of judicial tyranny the American public has endured over the last 40 years from judges who have little regard for the Constitution.

Apparently Obama, Reid and Pelosi aren’t worried about losing control of Congress in 2010 or even the presidency in 2012, because their higher goal is to irrevocably institutionalize their leftist ideology. more »

Idiot-in-Chief: ObamaCare Will Reduce Premiums by 3000 Percent

Idiot-in-Chief Obama spreading outrageous lies about ObamaCare to promote a communist agenda

Idiot-in-Chief Obama spreading outrageous lies about ObamaCare to promote a communist agenda

by B. Chrysostom | 3/17/2010

Obama’s latest attempt to shove the government takeover of healthcare down the throats of the American people has taken yet another insane turn. On Monday (3/15), in his Health Care Reform address in Strongsville, Ohio, President Obama claimed that ObamaCare will reduce insurance premiums by as much as “3,000 percent.” The words lie and impossible are insufficient to describe the outright idiocy and ridiculousness of such a preposterous assertion.

Unhappy with just spreading fear and misinformation about America’s healthcare system, trashing insurance companies, defaming conservative opponents, avoiding a fair and balanced debate of the facts, and strong-arming Congress into passing the 2,700 page healthcare bill monstrosity without proper due process and allowing lawmakers to vote on the actual healthcare legislation, Obama is now insulting our intelligence. more »

Obamacare: A Nightmare for America

Obamacare: A Nightmare for America

LifeSiteNews | by Steve Jalsevac | 3/12/2010

When human life is measured only by its cost, then you know there are wider and very concerning implications about what such people believe and will do.

We are seeing the Obama Democrats come out these past few days revealing, more explicitly than ever before, their true nature of being political thugs.

All stops are being pulled to ram their health care legislation through – no matter how much the American public opposes it, no matter how much they have to lie and trash the constitution and legislative traditions, and no matter how much they have to bribe or threaten fellow Democrats who won’t go along with their corrupt program.
